The Courtauld Collection at the Louis Vuitton Foundation
From 20 february 2019 to 17 june 2019
Large textile manufacturer and art collector, Samuel Courtauld (1876 -1947, England) will quickly become interested in French modern art: Manet, Degas, Renoir and Cezanne, whose work he will really appreciate. He travels regularly to Paris to buy Impressionist works through the network of his adviser Percy Moore Turner and is a beautiful collection in just 8 years. Among the treasures of this collection, the Louis Vuitton Foundation celebrates Manet's Folies-Bergère Bar, Cézanne's Les Joueurs de cartes, Gauguin's Nevermore, La Loge de Renoir, After Degas's Bath, Nude feminine by Modigliani, Van Gogh's self-portrait with bandaged ear and ten watercolors by JMW Turner who belonged to Samuel Courtauld's brother!
